❤️ Why You'll Love Bolt Farm Treehouse
There are places that encourage you to slow down, and then there are places that make you feel like the rest of the world has disappeared completely. Bolt Farm Treehouse did exactly that for me.
One of my favorite parts of staying there was the quiet mornings. Without ever leaving the bed, I could use the remote control to slowly open the drapes and let the morning sunlight fill the room as the mountains appeared across the horizon. It was such a simple luxury, but one I looked forward to each morning.
Every treehouse is designed to make the most of those incredible views. A beautiful copper tub sits in the middle of the room, perfectly positioned so you can soak while looking out across the mountains. Outside, the private patio features a hot tub where you can relax beneath the open sky. The Wellness Haven invites you to slow down even more with spa treatments, cascading thermal pools, a sauna, steam room, and cold plunge—all surrounded by the same gorgeous mountain scenery.
Between the views, the quiet, and the feeling that you have the mountain almost entirely to yourself, it’s incredibly easy to unplug and enjoy doing absolutely nothing.
It is perhaps one of the most romantic destinations I’ve visited. Even with other treehouses nearby, Bolt Farm has a way of making you feel completely secluded—a place where couples can escape, reconnect, and enjoy uninterrupted time together.
Getting There
Bolt Farm Treehouse is located on a private mountaintop in Whitwell, Tennessee, approximately 30 miles northwest of downtown Chattanooga. Although the resort feels incredibly remote once you arrive, it is only about 45 minutes from Chattanooga and approximately 2 hours from Nashville.
🚗 Driving Directions:
From Chattanooga: Follow I-24 West toward Nashville before continuing toward Whitwell and the resort. Allow approximately 45 minutes from downtown Chattanooga.
From Nashville: Take I-24 East toward Chattanooga and continue through the mountains toward Whitwell. The drive takes approximately 2 hours, depending on traffic and weather.
✈️ Closest Airport:
Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport (CHA) is the closest airport and is located approximately 50 minutes from Bolt Farm. Nashville International Airport (BNA) is about two hours away but may offer more flight options.
Bolt Farm sends detailed arrival instructions before check-in, so follow those directions for the final portion of the drive up the mountain.
✨ Pro Tip: Download or print the arrival instructions and offline directions before leaving. Cell service can become unreliable as you approach the property. Try to also arrive before dark as navigating mountain roads is easier during daylight.
Tips for Visiting Bolt Farm Treehouse
Below are some tips to help you make the most out of your experience and enjoy your stay.
✨ Arrive Before Dark - The final portion of the drive takes you along mountain roads that are easier to navigate during daylight. Arriving early also gives you time to settle in and enjoy the views before sunset.
✨ Download Your Arrival Instructions - Bolt Farm sends detailed directions before check-in. Save them to your phone before leaving because cell service may become unreliable as you approach the property.
✨ Use the Concierge Before You Arrive - The concierge can help you coordinate special requests, dining, spa appointments, romantic surprises, and experiences before your trip. Take advantage of the service rather than waiting until check-in.
✨ Plan Around Sunrise and Sunset - Some of the most beautiful moments at Bolt Farm happen when the light changes over the mountains. Wake up early enough to catch the sunrise from bed, then plan to be back at your treehouse or one of the overlooks before sunset.
✨ Don’t Overplan Your Days - Visiting Bolt Farm Treehouse is an experience in and of itself, so avoid filling every hour with activities away from the resort. Instead, leave plenty of time to enjoy your accommodations and the spa—think soaking in the private hot tub or copper tub, sipping wine on the deck while admiring the view, and relaxing beside the gas fire pit.
When I visited, I originally planned to take a day trip to Chattanooga. Once I settled into my treehouse, however, I decided to stay put and simply relax. I’m so glad I did.
✨ Schedule Time to Enjoy the Wellness Haven - Avoid treating the spa like another activity to check off your list. Give yourself time to really enjoy the thermal pools, sauna, steam room, cold plunge, and mountain views without rushing even if you decide not to book a spa treatment.
✨ Put Your Phone Away - The accommodations are incredibly photogenic, but they will never look quite as pristine as they do immediately after you arrive. Take a few photographs when you first arrive, then do yourself a favor - put the phone away and fully embrace the experience.
✨ Arrange Special Occasions in Advance - If you’re celebrating an anniversary, honeymoon, birthday, or proposal, contact the concierge before your arrival. Romantic setups, champagne, private dining, and other extras may require advance notice.
✨ Review the Cancellation Policy Carefully - Bolt Farm stays can be a significant investment. Review the terms attached to your particular reservation and consider travel insurance, especially if you are booking well in advance.
What's Included in Your Stay
Since my visit, Bolt Farm Treehouse has considerably expanded its amenities and packages. Inclusions can vary depending on your accommodation, package, length of stay, and any seasonal promotions, so carefully review the details provided when booking.
What’s Included with Every Bolt Farm Accommodation?
Whether you stay in a treehouse, dome, or mirror cabin, every Bolt Farm accommodation currently includes a private hot tub, pizza oven, record player, high-speed Wi-Fi, and fireplace. Features such as copper soaking tubs, outdoor showers, heated floors, kitchen appliances, Wellness Haven access, meals, and spa credits vary by accommodation and package.
Bolt Farm’s Seasonal & All-Inclusive Packages
Bolt Farm offers seasonal and all-inclusive packages that bundle additional amenities with the accommodations. Depending on the offer selected, these may include Wellness Haven access, spa treatments or credits, daily meals, romantic room setups, champagne and chocolates, charcuterie, pastries, and premium pizza-making kits.
The current Summer at Bolt Farm booking promotion includes:
Complimentary Wellness Haven access for two
A $150 spa credit for each day of the stay
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner each day
Exact inclusions, eligibility requirements, and promotion dates can change. Confirm the details associated with your reservation before booking.
✨ Pro Tip: Compare the total value of the available packages rather than looking only at the nightly rate. A promotion that includes meals, daily spa credits, and Wellness Haven access may provide considerably more value than booking everything separately.
Accommodations at Bolt Farm Treehouse
Bolt Farm offers three primary styles of accommodations: luxury treehouses, mirror cabins, and geodesic domes. Every option sleeps two guests and includes a private hot tub, pizza oven, record player, fireplace, and beautiful natural surroundings. However, the atmosphere, views, interior features, and level of privacy vary, making each one better suited to a slightly different experience.
🌳 Choose a Luxury Treehouse if you want the most romantic and spacious option, a king bed, panoramic valley views, a copper soaking tub, and the classic experience Bolt Farm is best known for.
🪞 Choose a Mirror Cabin if privacy and immersion in nature are most important to you. The reflective exterior almost disappears into the surrounding forest, allowing you to watch wildlife without being seen.
🔭 Choose a Geodesic Dome if you want an adventurous stay with plenty of room, dramatic floor-to-ceiling windows, panoramic views, and amenities suited for a longer getaway.
✨ Pro Tip: Compare prices for your specific dates. Rates vary considerably by accommodation, season, availability, length of stay, and package. Be sure to consider any minimum-stay requirements and included benefits, not just the nightly rates.
🌳 Luxury Treehouses
⭐ Known For: Bolt Farm’s signature combination of childhood nostalgia, romance, and grown-up luxury
🌄 Views: Panoramic views across the Sequatchie Valley
♨️ Standout Features: Copper soaking tub, private outdoor hot tub, heated bathroom floors, indoor and outdoor showers, pizza oven, and private deck
🛏️ Bed: King bed
💑 Best For: First-time visitors, anniversaries, honeymoons, romantic getaways, and couples wanting the quintessential Bolt Farm experience
The luxury treehouses are Bolt Farm’s signature accommodations and the option most people probably picture when imagining a stay here. Perched among the treetops, they combine the fun of sleeping in a treehouse with the privacy and comforts of a luxury resort.
I stayed in one of the luxury treehouses and loved how every part of the room was positioned around the view. In the morning, I could open the drapes using the remote control and watch the mountains appear without ever leaving the bed. A freestanding copper tub sits in the middle of the room, allowing you to soak while enjoying that same panoramic scenery. Outside, a private hot tub and deck provide even more places to slow down and take in the surroundings.
The treehouses are available in configurations that prioritize either greater luxury or additional privacy. Bolt Farm also offers the one-of-a-kind Arhaus Treehouse, which features designer furnishings, a stone hot tub, copper soaking tub, cedar barrel shower, pizza oven, and fire table overlooking the valley.
🪞 Mirror Cabins
⭐ Known For: Reflective exteriors that blend almost completely into the surrounding forest
🌲 Views: Wooded scenery and close-up wildlife viewing
♨️ Standout Features: Private hot tub, heated floors, rainfall shower, kitchenette, smokeless fire pit, pizza oven, and floor-to-ceiling glass
🛏️ Bed: Queen bed
💑 Best For: Nature lovers, privacy seekers, wildlife watchers, and couples looking for Bolt Farm’s most unusual accommodation
Bolt Farm’s mirror cabins offer its most nature-immersive experience. Designed by Estonia-based ÖÖD Hotels, their floor-to-ceiling mirrored exteriors reflect the surrounding trees, making the cabins appear to almost disappear into the forest.
From inside, the expansive glass allows you to watch deer and other wildlife wander nearby while maintaining your privacy. The cabins are smaller and have queen beds rather than the king beds found in the treehouses and domes, but their intimate size is part of their appeal.
✨ Pro Tip: If you want an even more unique experience, Bolt Farm has a one-of-a-kind Floating Mirror Cabin elevated on stilts above the forest floor. It includes a private deck, kitchenette, pizza oven, hot tub, and 24-hour access to the Wellness Haven, making it a particularly unique choice for adventurous travelers
🔭 Geodesic Domes
⭐ Known For: Spacious interiors, dramatic windows, stargazing, and panoramic mountain views
🌄 Views: Floor-to-ceiling glass panels with expansive mountain and sunrise views
♨️ Standout Features: Private hot tub, copper soaking tub, outdoor shower, kitchenette with an electric stove and microwave, barbecue grill, pizza oven, projector, record player, and suspended pod chairs
🛏️ Bed: King canopy bed
💑 Best For: Longer stays, stargazers, adventurous couples, and guests wanting additional cooking and entertainment amenities
Bolt Farm’s geodesic domes provide a little more space to settle in while still delivering the unusual experience of sleeping surrounded by nature. Their soaring ceilings and floor-to-ceiling glass panels create expansive views of the mountains and sky, making them especially appealing for watching the sunrise or stargazing after dark.
Each dome has a kitchenette equipped with an electric stove and microwave, along with a barbecue grill and outdoor pizza oven. A projector provides an easy way to enjoy a movie night, while the record player and suspended pod chairs add to the cozy atmosphere.
The domes feel more like spacious private villas than traditional glamping accommodations, making them a great option for guests planning a longer visit or anyone who wants a little more room without giving up Bolt Farm’s mountain views and romantic setting.
The Wellness Haven & Spa
Bolt Farm Treehouse’s Wellness Haven is a full mountaintop spa and one of the property’s biggest attractions. Designed around the same incredible scenery that makes the accommodations so special, it features cascading mineral pools and sweeping views across Tennessee, North Carolina, and Georgia. Just the views alone are stunning.
✨ Exclusive Jen33Travel Benefit: Use code CURNUTT when booking to receive complimentary Wellness Haven access for two. Enter the code exactly as shown and confirm that the benefit appears in your reservation before completing your booking. Eligibility and availability may be subject to Bolt Farm’s current terms.
🧖♀️ Wellness Amenities: A mirrored sauna, elevated steam rooms with aromatherapy, a cold plunge, reflection pool, private treatment suites, and relaxation areas.
💆♀️ Spa Treatments: Couples massages, restorative body treatments, facial massage, hot stones, mineral salt exfoliation, and multi-day wellness experiences.
💳 Spa Credit: A $150 daily spa credit is currently included with qualifying reservations booked through the Summer at Bolt Farm promotion.
⭐ Best For: Couples, romantic getaways, anniversaries, and anyone who wants to fully relax without leaving the property. Although the resort is especially popular with couples, it would also make an incredible girls’ spa getaway.
Guests can soak in the mineral pools, relax inside the mirrored sauna, enjoy the aromatherapy steam rooms, or cool down in the cold plunge while taking in the expansive mountain views.
Current spa experiences include:
The Signature Couples Experience: Combines a personalized massage, restorative body treatment, and relaxing face massage into one head-to-toe treatment.
The His & Hers Signature Pairing: Features two side-by-side treatments customized for each guest.
The Ultimate Couples Spa Escape: A two-day experience that includes signature treatments, champagne and truffles, a keepsake photograph, and access to the Wellness Haven throughout your stay.
Wellness Haven access is not necessarily included with every standard reservation but is often included with certain accommodations, all-inclusive packages, or seasonal promotions. Guests can usually apply their spa credit toward admission or specific treatments but you should carefully review the inclusions associated with your reservation before booking.
✨ Pro Tip: Reserve your spa treatments as soon as you book your stay, particularly for weekends and special occasions. Availability is limited, and scheduling in advance makes it easier to plan the rest of your getaway around your spa experience.
Food & Dining
Dining at Bolt Farm is designed to be enjoyed privately inside your accommodation or outside on the deck rather than in a traditional resort restaurant. Each treehouse, dome, and mirror cabin includes a kitchenette and an outdoor pizza oven, making it possible to enjoy your meals without leaving the mountain. The treehouses also include outdoor grills.
When I visited, Bolt Farm was testing a new meal service that included fully prepared dishes delivered directly to my treehouse. All I had to do was heat them up, and I was genuinely surprised by how incredible everything tasted. I could enjoy a wonderful meal overlooking the mountains without grocery shopping, cooking from scratch, or driving into town.
My stay also included a pizza kit with everything I needed to make my own pizza in the outdoor pizza oven. It was fun, easy, and one of those little experiences that made the stay feel even more memorable.
Since my visit, the meal program has become part of Bolt Farm’s expanded dining and all-inclusive offerings.
🥘 Oven-Ready Meals: Prepared meals can be delivered directly to your accommodation and heated when you are ready to eat.
🍕 Pizza Kits: Premium pizza-making kits include the ingredients needed to prepare dinner using your private outdoor pizza oven.
🥐 Additional Offerings: Depending on your package, your stay may also include daily pastries, welcome champagne and chocolates, snacks, or a sunset charcuterie experience.
🍽️ Seasonal and All-Inclusive Dining: Bolt Farm’s current Summer at Bolt Farm promotion includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner each day. Dining inclusions vary with other reservations and packages.
🥗 Dietary Needs: Notify Bolt Farm about allergies or dietary restrictions well before your arrival. Accommodations require advance notice and may not be available for last-minute bookings.
🛒 Preparing Your Own Food: Every accommodation includes a kitchenette, although the exact appliances vary among the treehouses, domes, and mirror cabins.
✨ Pro Tip: Meal delivery and pizza kits are not necessarily included with every standard reservation. They may be offered as part of an all-inclusive package, seasonal promotion, or optional add-on, so carefully review the dining inclusions associated with your reservation.
Dining options close to Bolt Farm are extremely limited. The Chef’s Restaurant in Whitwell is approximately 10 minutes away, but most full-service restaurants are at least 30–50 minutes from the property. Consider how much cooking—and mountain driving—you actually want to do before choosing a dining package.
I highly recommend having meals delivered. It makes it much easier to remain on the property and enjoy the secluded atmosphere. That convenience was one of the reasons I abandoned my original plans for a day trip to Chattanooga and simply stayed at Bolt Farm to relax.
