Coalmont Cabin Tennessee

My Introduction to Tiny Homes

Anyone who knows me, knows I love interesting, unique stays. I’ve spent time in a Navajo hogan, a treehouse built in the sky, incredible cabins, beach cottages and luxury safari tents. I even stayed in a penthouse suite once with a private elevator, grand piano, crystal chandelier, and artwork from the owner’s private collection. I love camping, glamping, off-grid and luxury. Nothing is off limits. The more unique the experience, the better.

However, one thing I’ve never done before was to stay in a tiny home. After spending a magical few weeks with family in California for the holidays, I returned home and was immediately greeted by the flu.  After a week, I was finally feeling like a human when an opportunity to spend a weekend getaway in a tiny cabin presented itself.

I’ve been hearing about this tiny home trend for months and have seen all kinds of reels on IG showing cute little fairy like cottages and cozy getaways.

So, of course I jumped at the opportunity. I must admit that I simply wanted to try something new and wasn’t really sure how I’d like it. Surprisingly, I fell in love.

Perhaps its the minimalist, eco-friendly environment of a tiny home that’s appealing. Maybe it’s being immersed in nature - having everything you need and nothing you don’t including distractions. Like that intangible reason why you feel unexplainably relaxed and calm after spring cleaning or decluttering your home. Like you can breath again. Perhaps, it’s simply the novelty of a new concept. Whatever it is, I’m hooked.

My weekend at the Coalmont Cabin was Hallmark worthy - a relaxing getaway to a cozy little cabin nestled in the woods with fresh fallen snow. I spent my time bundled up by a fire, book in hand, watching the snow blanket the ground and icicles form on the rooftop. I was completely unplugged. A tiny “home away from home” full of rustic charm and over-sized picture windows with views of the light dancing off the frozen water and treetops dusted in snow.

Coalmont Cabin was the perfect setting to enjoy one of those rare, quiet moments in life that leave lasting memories imprinted on your heart and soul.

Coalmont Cabin started as an old tiny fishing cabin that was renovated by the young family who owns it. Having bought the land at the height of the pandemic, they turned it into their dream retreat where they could spend quality time with their children, focusing on what matters - time spent together. It was the perfect escape from the harsh realities and hustle of the outside world. A place to relax and recharge. They have described it as their place “where time slows down and the kids don’t grow so fast, if only for a moment.”  And these days, they want to share it with others.

LOCATION

The cabin sits right on the water with stunning panoramic views, nestled in the South Cumberland Mountains of Tennessee. It’s located just one hour from the charming town of Chattanooga, and 1-1/2 hours away from bustling downtown Nashville. The perfect escape!
