Planning a trip to one of our nation’s 63 national parks or other federally managed lands? Worried about losing service, maps going offline, not knowing where to go or what to see? Well, the National Park Service now has a solution for you - the new National Park Service app. It’s everything you need to know to explore over 400 federally managed parks right at your fingertips. Created by National Park Service staff, it’s the perfect resource for information from those who know our parks the best.

The NPS app lets you create a list of favorite parks for quick access to those you visit most. You can even access the information offline.

The app is free and allows you streamline your visit and access information all in one consolidated location including the following:

  • Interactive maps

  • Hiking trails

  • Lodging and food

  • News alerts and information for visitors with accessibility needs

  • Things to see and do including scenic drives, points of interest, museums and visitor centers

  • Event calendars, ranger led programs, tours, educational activities and passport stamp stops

The app is quite thorough and new content is constantly being added. You can search using both key terms and locations. The best part, the app still works with no internet. Just download the content from the park you plan on visiting in advance for offline use. This is a game changer for exploring remote sections of the parks.

The NPS app is truly a must for anyone planning a visit. It’s available for iOS- and Android, and can be downloaded through the App Store and Google Play.
