Jacksonville, Florida has approximately 900 miles of navigable inland waterways through some of the most beautiful areas in Florida. My favorite is the twisting pathways through salt marsh lined with dense vegetation at Amelia Island and Big Talbot Island State Park.

One of the best ways to explore the nature preserve is out on the water in a kayak where the only sounds you’ll hear are your own rhythmic paddling and the silence of nature. The feeling is unparalleled as birds flock the oaks draped in Spanish moss lining the shore and the heron’s wings lift as it takes flight across the lagoon.

PADL has a full service rental location here and is the state park’s only licensed concessionaire. It’s the perfect place to spend your day. Rentals are incredibly inexpensive and you will undoubtedly have the place almost completely to yourself so you can enjoy the tranquility of the marsh as the reeds and tall grass sway in the wind.
